How to Assign a Test

Assign a CBT exam to a specific class and generate an exam code for students.

After creating a test, you need to assign it to a class before students can take it. Assigning generates a unique exam code.

Steps

1. Go to Assessment / CBT from the sidebar.
2. Click Assign Test in the CBT navigation.
3. Select the Test you want to assign from the dropdown.
4. Select the Class (e.g., JSS1, SS2).
5. Select the Arm (e.g., A, B, or All Arms).
6. Set the Start Time (when students can begin).
7. Set the End Time (optional — when the exam closes).
8. Click Assign.

What Happens

• A unique 6-digit exam code is generated automatically.
• An exam link is generated that you can copy and share directly with students.
• The test status changes to "Assigned."
• Parents receive an email notification about the upcoming assessment.
• Only students in the assigned class and arm can take the exam.

Sharing the Exam

You can share the exam two ways:

1. Exam Link — copy the generated link and send to students (WhatsApp, email, etc.). Students click the link and enter their Student ID to start.
2. Exam Code — students go to the exam page manually and enter the 6-digit code + their Student ID.

Access Control

• Only students in the assigned class and arm can take the exam.
• A student from a different class will be rejected with "You are not assigned to this exam."
• External candidates (EXT/ prefix) bypass class checks.

Tips

• You can assign the same test to multiple classes by assigning it again with a different class/arm (generates a new code each time).
• The exam code is random and cannot be guessed.
• Check the Live Exams tab to monitor students once they start.
